City & Financial Global is pleased to announce its forthcoming virtual Summit on the Future of Capital Markets Regulation taking place on 7th December. After years of wrangling over the MiFID II regime, the UK is now seizing the opportunity to re-write the rule book to introduce a bespoke system of regulation for the UK markets, rather than continue with the previous pan-European rule book which was necessarily a compromise as it had to meet the needs of so many different countries. The new approach was set out in the recent HM Treasury consultation.

The Summit will provide a forum for regulated firms to assess the implications of the proposed divergence from the EU regime. The Summit follows the success of a series of events City & Financial has run over the last three or four years looking at the effect of onshoring the MiFID and MiFIR regimes into UK law and other post-Brexit measures. An eminent panel of speakers will address the impact of the Government’s commitment to “a new chapter for financial services” including how the review of wholesale markets fits into the bigger picture of leading the way in terms of technology and innovation, green finance and creating a more competitive use of capital.

There will also be deep-dive sessions on all the proposals in the Review including those related to trading obligations, transparency, market data and market structure.
