Investor interest in tail risk strategies and equity risk management hedges that can limit exposure to downside equity market volatility, or in some cases benefit from it, has increased over the past few years for a multitude of reasons. The age-old debate about whether an investor should hedge or not is an ongoing one that we would like to discuss.

Additionally, if an investor were to hedge what are the various ways to go about it? Is there one optimal approach, or several different potential ways to successfully employ a hedging strategy in a portfolio based on what the goal of the hedge is?
