The Second Sustainability Summit for SEE & The Mediterranean Takes place this year on Oct 1st and 2nd in Athens. Following the introduction of the ’17 Sustainable Goals’ associated with Agenda 2030, both the private sector and governments are looking to adopt practices in order to implement these goals both efficiently and effectively. With the purpose of achieving sustainability by 2030, innovative practices and materials, technological developments, new partnerships and sustainable investments are being pursued, with the goal of leading people to this new age of development and welfare. In contrast, weak governance structures, conceptual challenges, financing restrictions and limited transparency are just a few of the obstacles to be overcome in order to progress towards this goal. Whether these can be overcome is just one question this event hopes to answer as well as whether modern tools, initiatives and action plans can be devised and implemented to successfully promote the SDGs.
