The Public Funds Summit East, an annual conference by Opal Financial Group, takes place this year from 16th to 18th July. It looks at key issues that affect the investment success of pension fund officers and trustees. Pension plan representatives and trustees are concerned with balancing the risk/reward models whilst dealing with funding liabilities for beneficiaries in an age of declining returns. Topics discussed will include surplus returns and their effect on employee benefit plans and the processes for selecting and evaluating investment managers. Other topics addressed are the legal issues faced by pension plans, and ethical guidelines. Topics covered are of particular interest to public pension funds.
