CFA Institute Research Foundation wins "Best Alternatives Paper”

Over the last 20 years there has been a steady increase in allocations to alternative asset classes, driven partly by a desire to diversify portfolio risk and partly by a dislike of high equity valuations and low fixed income yields. Alternative Investments: A Primer for Investment Professionals (CFA Institute Research Foundation/CAIA)

The winning publication this year is more of a book than a white paper. This 183-page document (published by CFA Institute Research Foundation and produced by the CAIA association) is designed as a primer and reference document for institutional asset allocators investing in alternatives. It aims to help the reader better understand the characteristics, challenges and uses of the various alternative asset classes in the context of a well-diversified portfolio.
